We have continued a tradition that my girls had when they were turned 8. During the summer after they turned 8 years old they spent a week with my Mom. Daphne continued the tradition! I met Lara and Daphne half way at Plymouth. Daphne jumped in the car and we planned our week.
We spent evenings eating our favorite foods, watching movies, playing with Trooper and hanging out. What a treat for me!
Daphne spent part of four of the days at a children's art camp at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho. She made friends and loved the four hours each day learning about art from Japan and Italy, clay sculpting and paper layering art. She can write her name in Japanese!
Daphne also had a great time one night sleeping over at her Grandpa Blake's and playing with Scout.
On Thursday Travis and Bridgette spent the afternoon with us hiking Big Elk Creek. We had to hurry to get back to the trail head before dark. Daphne is an awesome hiker! She kept up with all of us never complaining or whining at all. It was so much fun to have her happy adventurous fun loving personality keeping us all company the entire 3.5 miles up and back to the trail head. We hiked 7 miles with this happy little girl.
In fact, I had to keep her moving so we would get back by dark - she loves stopping and examining everything that crawled, flew, or moved. Big Elk Creek is a great beautiful hike. We saw a cow moose so we sang very loud to keep her away from the trail.
The best part of the week was that Daphne didn't want to go home. I do think she did miss her Mom and family - even if she said she could spend another week.
